The Shuswap Economic Development Society (SEDS) is conducting a study of Internet infrastructure throughout the Shuswap region to better understand the level of connectivity available within our communities.

To support this initiative, SEDS is using a monitoring tool called the Internet Performance Test (IPT). The IPT provides valuable data on Internet performance and helps identify areas where service levels may not meet the standards considered necessary for businesses, residents, and families.

The IPT was developed by the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), the organization responsible for managing Canada’s “.ca” domain names. The test is a neutral and reliable measure of Internet performance, with more than one million tests completed by Canadians across the country.

Participation is completely voluntary and only takes a few seconds. Users simply click the link below to run the test, which measures more than 100 aspects of network performance. You will be able see the results of the test!

Once completed, users can immediately view their Internet speed results. The test is anonymous and does not collect or record personal names or identifying information. Combined results will help create a regional map of Internet performance throughout the Shuswap.

Important:
If you have poor or no Internet service at your location, it is especially important that we hear from you. Please visit a location with Internet access, open the website above, and click the link:
“If you wish to inform us of a location without Internet access, click here.”

If the test does not run properly, there may be an issue with your home equipment or connection that requires servicing.

Thank you for helping spread the word and encouraging others to participate. We also encourage residents to take the test as often as possible to help provide accurate and up-to-date information.
